Production

My Approach

The role of a music producer has always shifted with the times. In the early days, producers were often behind the scenes, booking studios, hiring musicians, managing budgets, and making sure recordings ran smoothly. Over time, the role expanded to include shaping arrangements, guiding performances, and developing an artist’s sound. Today, a producer can be anything from someone overseeing an entire creative vision to a beat-maker crafting tracks from scratch.

For me, production is a combination of all these roles. It’s about helping an artist bring the song in their head into the world in its most powerful form. I came into production from a songwriting background. Writing, recording, and performing across many genres for more than 15 years. My work has found its way onto radio, TV, short films, ads, and other artists’ releases. That foundation as a songwriter shapes how I produce: with the vision of the song and feeling at it’s core. My focus is to craft each track into the version it deserves to be.

How We’ll Work Together

Production is different for every artist, and no two projects ever follow exactly the same path. Some songs are fully written and just need to be captured, while others are still taking shape and might need more time in pre-production. Because of that, it’s tricky to give a strict, one-size-fits-all breakdown.

What I can share is the general roadmap we’ll follow together. Think of it as a flexible framework rather than a checklist, the steps adapt depending on the scope of the project, how ready the songs are, and what will best serve the music. Whether we’re starting from a voice memo or walking into the studio with a full band, we’ll shape the process around what gets the best result.

1. Initial Meeting

We start with a one- to two-hour session where we simply connect. This is a chance to talk about the project, the meaning behind the song, what you want people to take from it, and most importantly, what you want to take from it. There are no wrong answers. This stage allows me to understand your vision, and your goals, so I can find the best approach for us to take.

2. Plan

From there I’ll create a plan that lays out what’s needed to bring the project to life. This includes timelines, resources, creative direction and budget. Everything is tailored to your goals and your music.

3. Pre-Production

This is where ideas take shape. Together we’ll play through songs, refine arrangements, develop sounds, and create demos. Pre-production sets the foundation for the recording phase. It ensures everyone is clear on the direction before we step into the studio.

4. Production and Recording

With a plan in place, we move into production, Shaping the sound and capturing performances. I group production and recording together because in a modern music workflow, they often overlap, sometimes happening in sequence, other times all at once. Throughout this stage, every choice is guided by the song itself and the artist’s vision, ensuring the final result feels authentic and true.

5. Mix & Delivery

Once the track is recorded, I move into editing and mixing — giving the song clarity, balance, and impact. When the mix is complete, I outsource mastering to trusted engineers who specialise in the final polish, ensuring the track is ready for release.
